A shot of the Hong Kong lightshow which goes on nightly at 2000 local time. The typical overcast conditions make the glow really interesting I think.

So, I’ve been in Hong Kong for nearly 3 weeks now and shot some 300 odd photos, but am yet to be overwhelmed by my results. The light is generally pretty flat because of cloud / smog issues so I’m having issues getting the photos as I want.

Anyway a brief outing today got me a couple to start my Hong Kong Flickr set with. Hopefully my creative juices can now start to flow.

More fun is that next week I’m going to buy a 50mm f1.8 lens and a flash, so maybe the light issues may become less important.

As I’m off on holiday to Jersey tomorrow I thought it would be nice to note a few areas I’m looking to get photos of, and see how successful I am at achieving my goals.

  • Old buildings – St Helier should make this easy
  • Wildlife – Not sure how much walking we’ll do, but it would be good to test out my telephoto lens
  • Sea scapes – hard to capture well I found, but I thought they provided some of my most regarding shots in California, and provide an interesting challenge in the digital darkroom.

We’ll see how thy come out, but hopefully in a weeks time there will be some results to see.
